Three European flights diverted after coordinated bomb threats

A Boeing 737 Max operating from London Heathrow to Warsaw’s main Chopin airport made an unscheduled landing at Warsaw-Modlin airport. The aircraft, which carried 181 people on board, landed at 10:01 local time (09:01 GMT). Warsaw-Modlin airport, primarily used by budget airlines, confirmed that the plane is currently being checked by relevant authorities regarding a “possible bomb threat.” Air operations at the airport resumed after the incident, and passengers have since disembarked.

A second flight, traveling from Copenhagen to Chopin airport, also faced a bomb threat according to Danish media reports. This aircraft landed as normal. A spokesman for Chopin airport stated that one runway on the apron was closed during the response, but overall air operations were not significantly impacted.

In a separate incident, a Ryanair flight from Manchester, Spain, made an emergency landing at Murcia-Corvera airport in southern Spain. Francisco Lucas, the Spanish government’s delegate in the Murcia region, confirmed that 121 people, including crew, were on board. He stated that the plane was being inspected and security protocols were active. The local fire brigade was also mobilized for the emergency at the southern Spanish airport.

These events occurred the day after a Wizz Air flight from London Luton made an emergency landing in Budapest. That aircraft was escorted by a Hungarian fighter jet following a bomb threat. Wizz Air later confirmed that security checks had been completed and no threats were found. The current series of incidents involves distinct flights and locations, with authorities in Poland and Spain managing the immediate security responses independently.
