The lender narrowed its full-year 2026 net profit guidance to a range of DKK 24 billion to DKK 25 billion, up from a previous range of DKK 23 billion to DKK 25 billion. This adjustment brings the midpoint of DKK 24.5 billion slightly below the analyst consensus of DKK 24.6 billion. The revision is primarily underpinned by improved credit metrics; Danske Bank lowered its full-year loan impairment guidance to no more than DKK 0.6 billion, compared to a consensus expectation of DKK 0.8 billion.
Revenue growth was driven by both interest and non-interest income. For the first nine months of 2026, net interest income rose 4% year-on-year to DKK 28.3 billion, while net fee income jumped 14% to DKK 12.0 billion. In the third quarter specifically, net interest income increased 6% to DKK 9.61 billion, aligning closely with analyst estimates of DKK 9.68 billion. Commissions and fees exceeded expectations by 6% and grew 16% year-on-year, supported by increased investment fee income. Conversely, net trading income fell short of forecasts, coming in at DKK 397 million against a consensus of DKK 610 million, a result the bank linked to lower fixed income performance and unrealized mark-to-market impacts on currency swaps amid geopolitical uncertainty.

Credit quality remained a key positive driver. The bank recorded a net reversal of loan impairments of DKK 200 million in the third quarter, significantly better than the expected charge of DKK 252 million. For the nine-month period, total loan impairment charges amounted to just DKK 65 million, down sharply from DKK 258 million in the same period last year. CEO Carsten Egeriis stated, “In the first nine months of 2026, we delivered a strong financial result… Solid customer activity drove higher net interest income and net fee income, while credit quality remained strong and costs developed as expected.”
Danske Bank shares rose 1.5% following the release of the earnings report. The bank noted that the outlook for economic activity in the Nordic countries remains generally positive, despite higher and fluctuating energy prices. Full-year net interest income is still projected to be slightly above DKK 38 billion.

Analysts polled by the bank had expected a Q3 net profit of DKK 5.94 billion. The reported figure of DKK 6.39 billion represented a 7% beat over that average. The exchange rate used for currency conversion was $1 = 6.6949 Danish crowns.
