Mumbai police confirm hoax bomb threats targeting Bachchan residence, High Court, and BSE

Authorities clarified that the threat was not credible, describing it as a hoax. The Mahalaxmi Racecourse was specifically noted as a target because it is scheduled to host a concert by singer Diljit Dosanjh later this month. While the threat email was received by the court, police are currently working to trace the origin of the message. No casualties or physical damage were reported, and security agencies have been alerted to maintain vigilance.

This incident marks the second recent threat involving Amitabh Bachchan. On October 22, a threat email was sent to a school in Mumbai that named the veteran actor. At that time, authorities clarified that Bachchan had not received a direct threat. Following that incident, Bachchan’s customary Sunday appearance outside his home was disrupted; he was observed standing behind a protective glass shield, with his son Abhishek Bachchan present. In response to these safety concerns, the All India Cine Workers Association sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the security of Bollywood stars and their families.

The threats come amid heightened anxiety over the safety of public figures in India. On October 18, actor Tiger Shroff’s car was fired upon in an incident claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This week, actors Tusshar Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana also received threats attributed to the same gang. A 30-year-old IT engineer from Bengaluru was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch on Wednesday for sending threats to Kapoor and Khurrana. Preliminary investigations indicated no link between the arrested engineer and the Bishnoi gang, and police are still assessing the authenticity of related threat tapes. The current probe into the latest hoax aims to determine if there is any connection to these prior incidents or if it is an isolated act of harassment.
